A Strange Connection Of Former Celts

Things didn’t work out for Ronny Deila at Celtic, though he is remembered fondly and respected for the league titles that he won on the run towards ten in a row. The Norwegian now manages New York City FC and has linked up with another ex-Celt, for whom things didn’t go as planned in Glasgow.

Juarez joined Celtic in July 2010, just weeks before he was given a six month ban by the Mexican national federation for throwing an unauthorised party at the team hotel after a match against Columbia! Indeed, the star was disciplined for violating four of the federation’s rules in organising the party with Carlos Vela, whilst 11 players were fined for attending. Rumour has it that there were up to 15 hookers at the party, one of whom was a transvestite named Gemma! However, at the time, Neil Lennon rubbished such claims according to Football Scotland. Lennon said: “Talk of transvestites and prostitutes or whatever is completely untrue. According to Efrain there was a party at the hotel but the game had finished and the players were going home the next day. He left the party early and the whole thing seems to be exaggerated. I don’t want his reputation tarnished because he doesn’t deserve that.”

The Mexican utility man started well at Celtic, scoring two goals in his first few games. He looked a good player but soon fell out of favour after Celtic exited Europe and was loaned out to Real Zaragoza. He was sold to Mexican side, Club America in 2012, having made just 20 appearances for the hoops.

He now works alongside Deila and Mackay-Steven, both of whom have some wild stories of their own over the last few years. Imagine the end of season party!
