Abada ready for Celtic chance after Dembele and Johnston injuries

Celtic confirmed the signing of Liel Abada today on a five-year deal with the Israeli Internationalist joining for around £3.5m.

The player was announced shortly before Celtic’s game against Bristol City but following the game, Abada’s chances of making his debut in the next few games improved drastically as both Karamoko Dembele and Mikey Johnston were forced from the pitch with injuries.

The 19-year-old told the Celtic website that he had enjoyed a pre-season training regime already meaning that he would be able to play if called upon by Ange Postecoglou.

“Pre-season for me has been good. I was playing international football and have been training in pre-season so I am feeling good and ready to play. I know there are important games very soon so I will be ready if the manager calls on me.”

With Johnston and Dembele out, the manager may need to consider throwing Abada in the deep end against FC Midtjylland next Tuesday.

The game against Bristol City finished a draw but there was a huge cost to count for the manager. Barkas, Soro, Johnston and Dembele all forced from the field due to picking up injuries. The manager will know that he needs to recruit heavily in the next few weeks if the club are to stand a good chance of starting the season off in a favourable fashion in both Europe and the League.
