One player who has certainly flourished at Celtic since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou last June is left-back Greg Taylor. Often the whipping Bhoy for the supporters, mainly due to his erratic delivery from the left wing, Taylor has come into his own as a Celtic player this season and is now consistently turning in highly impressive performances having made himself the clear first pick left back since returning from the shoulder dislocation injury he suffered against Ross County last autumn.
The inverted full-back role seems to be ideally suited to Taylor’s game as indeed on the other side of the park Tony Ralston’s, a player who seemed to be heading for the exit at Celtic but was rescued by the arrival of Ange and is now a valuable member of the squad and a fans favourite. That’s not something that would have been said over the past few years among many Celtic Supporters.

Strangely Brendan Rodgers appeared to be a fan of Ralston and was giving him regular game-time but Neil Lennon, who yesterday was appointed as the new manager of Cypriot side Athletic Club Omonoia Nicosia, clearly didn’t rate the player and as his contract ran down it looked like Ralston would have to drop down a level and maybe join a bottom six Premiership side at best.

What a difference Ange has made with both Taylor and Ralston and both players have also been rewarded by the club with new, extended contracts and both clearly love playing for Celtic.
When the Celtic team to play Livingston was announced at quarter to eleven on Sunday morning eyebrows would have been raised at the eleven players Ange had selected. Put it this way, those predicting the starting eleven would have been way off the mark.
But Ange had said after the win against St Mirren last midweek that he had a plan for Livingston and that meant that the classy fullback Josip Juranovic sat this one out – he can play in either full-back position – and instead the two Scottish internationals were selected in a side that secured three valuable points, our first league win there in a decade and a half and completely wasted the weekend of the tens of thousands of theRangers fans tuning in expecting another Livingston headache for the Hoops.

Writing in his Daily Express column today Charlie Nicholas correctly praises the performance of Greg Taylor in a Celtic shirt this season. Nicholas wrote:
“Ange Postecoglou likes to rotate his Celtic team, but Greg Taylor is undroppable on current form. The left-back should be one of the first names on the teamsheet and deserves huge credit for the way he has dug in and proved people wrong in the last five or six weeks.
“Watching Taylor against Livingston last weekend, there was no big fuss about him. He did his job quietly and efficiently. Jota gets all the plaudits but Taylor backs him up really well on the left flank.
“It wasn’t so long ago that Postecoglou preferred to play Josip Juranovic out of position instead of Taylor, but the Scot’s form has been absolutely first class of late. His recent displays merit more recognition.”
Im delighted for greg, he gives us everything he has every game.
Agree .. except v Bodo where EVERYONE was poor!
