According to Footy Headlines adidas plan to release 2025 ‘Spezial Collections’ next week for three British sides – Newcastle United and Aston Villa from the Premier League and Celtic from the Scottish Premiership….
The release date is reported to be Thursday 16 October this matches the cryptic message posted on the giant screens at the game against Motherwell at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon and similar messages were posted by both English sides as you can see below.

Footy Headlines states: The Adidas Spezial line, curated by Gary Aspden, is known for its deep dive into the brand’s archives, bringing back classic and terrace-inspired silhouettes with a premium finish.
Building on the heritage-focused aesthetic of the Adidas Spezial line, we can expect each club’s collection to feature a range of premium lifestyle apparel. This will likely include a retro-inspired jersey, a track top/jacket, a hoodie, and other accessories.
A centre piece of each collection will almost certainly be a unique Adidas SPZL trainer, customised in each club’s iconic colours and featuring collaborative branding.

This move follows a similar, highly successful project from last year. In October 2024, Adidas released popular Spezial collections for Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, and Aberdeen. The new drop with Newcastle, Villa, and Celtic shows this is becoming an annual tradition for select Adidas clubs with a strong heritage and passionate fanbase.

Celtic certainly does have a strong heritage, perhaps unrivalled by any of the clubs mentioned by Footy Headlines and there’s no denying that the Celtic fanbase is passionate, so on paper this is an attractive proposition for adidas and our club.
However there’s a real concern that this will not be as well received as would normally be the case as a result of the underwhelming outcome of last night’s meeting at Celtic Park which is hardly going to result in bringing the support back onside with the club.
