AEK Athens v Celtic – ‘Moussa wants to play and be involved,’ Rodgers

BRENDAN RODGERS this evening hailed the return of Moussa Dembele to the Celtic squad as a massive boost ahead of the huge match against AEK Athens in the Olympic Stadium.

We reported earlier that Dembele will start the game on the bench and Rodgers fully intends to call upon his top striker to help get Celtic through this difficult tie.

“Moussa is big boost for us. He started the season fantastically in terms of his work and preparation, so it was unfortunate for him to pick up his injury,” Rodgers said.

“He’s worked very hard to come back and he will take his place in the squad. He will take his place on the bench. He’s looked very fit and strong in his rehabilitation, and the beauty with Moussa is he wants to play and be involved.

“It’s too much of a risk for him to start but I’m sure at some point in the game, he’ll play a part.”

The AEK boss has also been speaking and reckons that the dramatic week at Celtic will not have any bearing on the game tomorrow – or so he says! Read HERE.

Matt Corr is in Athens and is writing a diary for The Celtic Star, here’s his submission for his arrival day on SUNDAY. More to follow for Matt over the next few days.
