Agent claims Celtic interested in international attacking midfielder

CELTIC are being linked with Mohamed Magdy from Al Ahly, according to the players agent. Abdelrahman Ismail told Egyptian news outlet Kingfut that the Scottish Champions had taken an interest in bringing the Egyptian International to the club with a view to loaning him out.

The 24-year-old joined Al Ahly from Pyramids FC in 2019 and has scored seven goals and assisted ten times in the previous season. His agent claims that Neil Lennon’s side are interested in bringing to the club before loaning him out again; however, Al Ahly are unlikely to budge as they will play in the CAF Champions League Final against Zamalek or Raja Casablanca this month.

“Scottish club Celtic are very interested in the services of Al Ahly’s Mohamed Magdy Afsha.

“Celtic want to sign Afsha and then loan him out to a European club.

“However, Al Ahly is against the idea of letting the player go especially as they are preparing for the CAF Champions League Final.”

Celtic are already well stocked in the attacking area so there is likely to be little in the story beyond an agent attempting to drum up interest in his client. Olivier Ntcham, David Turnbull, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic are all already in place so any move for the player is likely to be speculation.
