“Aggressive in the transfer market – it could be unsettling with players in and out quickly,” Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou responded to a shareholder question at today’s Celtic PLC AGM about how the Celtic manager plans to take Celtic to the next level given the very obvious financial restrictions that clubs like Celtic have in comparison to the top sides from the bigger leagues around Europe, including of course Real Madrid, who defeated Celtic by a scoreline of 5-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

“We’ve got to be going in step,” Ange said. “There’s No point in me having a vision and out of step with the business perspective. We try to fit the business model around that.

“We have to understand to be a Champions League club – the ones we can compare ourselves with – the ones who make an impact is they are constantly there. Then once there, look to continually grow in the football aspect within resources and finances.

“We need to be aggressive in our approach but within the financial constraints of a club like ours. Aggressive in the transfer market – it could be unsettling with players in and out quickly but if you look at the models of clubs our size they’re very agile.

“Every couple of years they regenerate and move players out at the right time with improved players in. We need to push aggressively over the next two to three years, first qualifying and then making an impact.”

Ange was later questioned further about these remarks at his pre-match Media Conference ahead of tomorrow’s home match against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership, which you can watch below.

And in the videos release by Celtic ahead of the AGM (again watch below), Michael Nicholson states that the club are in a financial position to back Ange’s transfer plans in the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile we’re delighted to advise you that The Celtic Rising is now available in the Celtic shops including the Superstore so you can pick up your copy ahead of tomorrow’s game. All copies pre-ordered from The Celtic Star have now been signed and posted.
