Alonso 2-1 Postecoglou – Watch Celtic Women Putting On Another 9-0 Show

Both Fran Alonso and Ange Postecoglou have seen their Celtic sides win 9-0 this season and yesterday the Spanish coach of the Celtic FC Women side has gone into a 2-1 lead over the Australian Celtic manager with a second 9-0 win of the season, this time over Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium yesterday afternoon on the Scottish Cup.

The pre-match conversations were around the Celtic team sheet when it was announced as there was no sign of top scorer Clarissa Larisey and after the match The Celtic Star was able to reveal that the Canada international striker was on the verge of leaving Celtic to sign for Swedish side BK Häcken. That story was confirmed by the club this afternoon and while we’re sad to see such a talented player leave Celtic we nevertheless wish Clarissa all the best at her new club and also at the Women’s World Cup in the summer.

Celtic FC Women opened their SWPL1 campaign with a 9-0 win over Hibs while Ange Postecoglou’s side won 9-0 up at Tannadice against Dundee United in August.  Yesterday Celtic FC Women were at it again, perhaps keen to show that this is still a team with plenty of firepower, although we can confirm that Alonso told The Celtic Star last Thursday that he is looking at bringing in at least two new signings in the January transfer window – watch this space.

Oh and watch one of the goals from Amy Gallacher in her hat-trick from yesterday, spectacular doesn’t do it justice!

Here’s Fran Alonso speaking to Celtic TV after the match…

And here’s Irish international defender Claire O’Riordan thoughts on the 9-0 Scottish Cup win away to Falkirk…
