“Amazing to be honest,” Patsy Gallacher’s great grand-daughter Amy’s scoring debut

She’s the great grand-daughter of Celtic legend Patsy Gallacher and yesterday afternoon, after her summer move across the M8 she finally got the chance to wear the Hoops after going Celtic from Hibs.

And the Edinburgh side were on the wrong end of Gallacher’s first two goals for Celtic, rubbing salt into their wounds after hat-tricks from both Clarissa Larisa and Jacynta and an own goal had put Celtic a magnificent 7 in front.

A late double from Gallacher was just the icing on the cake really, the first a penalty she managed to somehow convert and then a fine finish from the edge of her box that Patsy himself would have approved of.

Afterwards Fran Alonso spoke of Gallacher’s impressive performance playing a huge role in the team’s early pressing game that Hibs had no answer to in that first half where Celtic scored six times.

Speaking to Colette Carr from Celtic TV afterwards, Amy was thrilled with her competitive debut and on a day when just about everything went well for Fran Alonso and his team, explained how she managed to get that penalty kick over the line via the post and the goalkeeper’s back.

Asked how she was feeling after all that the Celtic star said: “Amazing to be honest, I don’t think that the Ghirls expected to win 9 nil. We’re confident in our ability but it was a great result and a great start to the season.

“We said in the dressing room before the game that we wanted to start well, press well with intensity and get the early goal. We did that and it set the tone for the rest of the game.”

On luck being in her side at the penalty, which se’d won herself, Amy went our

“Thankfully Craigy (Chloe Craig) gave me it, so all credit to her her giving me the penalty. It was a long time coming for my first goal but I got it so I’m happy. It was a bit of a relief when it went in. It came off the post then hit the keeper on the back then went in. But I’ll take anything, I’m happy to get my first goal.

Amy’s second goal yesterday was certainly a more impressive!

On life at Celtic so far Amy Gallacher has settled in well and is enjoying life at a club she’s always wanted to play for. “I’ve been loving it. All the Ghirls have been so welcoming and I’m loving the football we are playing. Hopefully we can do well this season.”
