André Villas-Boas resigns as Marseille manager after Oliver Ntcham signed against his wishes

Marseille manager André Villas-Boas has announced that he has offered his resignation this morning after the club signed Olivier Ntcham from Celtic. The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager stated that he didn’t want to bring the Celtic midfielder into the club.

Ntcham has also upset the Marseille fans who have unearthed various tweets from the PSG supporting Olivier Ntcham that have got the Celtic man off to a terrible start at the French side.

“I just want to leave Marseille. I am not asking anything else from the board,” André Villas-Boas stated at his press conference today, Get French Football News reports. “I haven’t heard back from the board yet about my offer to resign.”

Ntcham left Celtic yesterday to join Marseille on loan until the end of the season, with the French side hammering down the agreed option to buy fee from €10m to just €4.5m. Incredibly in summer 2019 Celtic knocked-back a bid of €13.5m from Porto.

Ironically André Villas-Boas was previously linked with the Celtic job before opting for a move to Marseille.

Update on this story. Marseille have now announced the dismissal of André Villas Boas with immediate effect. Funny old game as they say, especially the Celtic fans now linking AVB with the Celtic job. He was a contender – according to the bookies – before the job was given to Neil Lennon in the showers at Hampden. Yep, a funny old game!

    • He’s offered his resignation due to interfering board, he’d be doing the same at CELTIC after a week!
