Ange clarifies Carter-Vickers and Juranovic absences in Paisley

Ange Postecoglou has clarified why the Scottish Champions will go without two first team defenders this afternoon in Paisley. Celtic face St Mirren but will do so without Josip Juranovic and Cameron Carter-Vickers and the boss has told Sky Sports the reasons for which they are not involved today.

Regarding Carter-Vickers, Ange said that the player had picked up a bit of soreness on Friday in training. Meanwhile, Josip Juranovic has played a number of games recently and the manager was happy to give him a rest allowing Tony Ralston to step into the first team.

“Cameron pulled up a bit sore so he wasn’t available today. Jura’s played a lot of football so with Tony coming in it made sense to give him a break.”

The manager made six changes from the side that picked up a draw against Shakhtar Donestk. The game in Paisley is now underway with the Scottish Champions looking to win their first seven games in a row in the Premiership. A win would also restore Celtic’s five point advantage at the top of the table.
