Ange Postecoglou wants Aaron Mooy signing, according to report

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly considering a move for Aaron Mooy, one of his favourites from his spell as Socceroos manager. Celtic are in need of adding some experience to the centre of midfield since Scott Brown departed for Aberdeen at the end of last season.

According to Give Me Sport, Postecoglou is keen on signing the player that he worked with at International level.

The 30-year-old is currently in China with Shanghai Port but he is said to be keen on leaving the Chinese Super League despite the eye-watering salary that he commands, around £3m-per-year. Postecoglou has a big rebuilding job and is believed to fancy an ambitious bid for the former Man City midfielder.

The central midfielder spent time with St Mirren before returning to Australia. This move to his homeland allowed him time to improve before a move to Manchester City. Despite never featuring for the English club, he impressed on loan at Huddersfield, before making the move permanent. He then moved to Brighton for £12m following The Terriers’ relegation.

The report also says that Postecoglou has cooled interest in James McCarthy, a free agent as of next week after his deal at Crystal Palace was not renewed. The 55-year-old manager will likely want to bring in players that have attributes that suit his style, something he knows he will get from Mooy.
