Ange Provides Positive Rogic Update: “People I know say that he’s got no problems”

Ange Postecoglou provides some very welcome re-assurance regarding former Celtic star Tom Rogic after concern levels regarding the Australian international playmaker were raised by Socceroos boss Graham Arnold who admitted that he had no idea why Rogic pulled out of the recent World Cup qualifier squads and that he had subsequently attempted to contact Rogic but had not received a response.

Arnold also revealed that the PFA had been asked to intervene and contact Rogic to check on his well-being with the Australian boss admitting that he was concerned.

“I haven’t read anything, I haven’t seen anything … I texted him and didn’t get a reply. I am concerned about Tommy but I know the PFA are looking into it,” Arnold said, as previously reported on The Celtic Star.

Ange Postecoglou was asked if he could shed any light on this somewhat worrying situation after his side’s entertaining 4-2 win in the Czech Republic on Wednesday afternoon against Banik Ostrava. The Celtic manager’s response was certainly positive and will be welcomed by the Celtic support who have taken Tom Rogic to our hearts over the past decade playing for the club.

“I think Tom Rogic is fine,” Ange said, as reported by Scottish Sun. “Has anyone spoken to him? No one spoke to him when he was here for ten years either. That’s Tom!

“I’d be actually more concerned if he was out there talking to people. Leave him alone, he’s fine.

“Tom will get his next move done and I’m sure he’s in a great place. I haven’t been in contact with him, but the people I know say that he’s got no problems.”

Rogic decided to call time on his Celtic career at the end of last season after almost a decade wearing the Hoops. Alongside Nir Bitton, who was in a similar position, both veteran Celtic performers decided to seek new challenges in the game and that was decision that had been made well in advance.

Indeed The Celtic Star understands that both players intended to leave a year earlier but the arrival of Ange Postecoglou – with his prior relationship with Rogic at the Socceroos – was the reason that both decided to remain at the club to provide experience and help get the Postecoglou era at Celtic off to a successful start.

They certainly managed that and both players will always be highly regarded by the Celtic support who this morning will be relieved to read the positive message delivered by Ange about Tom Rogic’s well-being.
