Ange suggests that Giakoumakis and Turnbull could miss Rangers clash

Ange Postecoglou has said that Giorgos Giakoumakis and David Turnbull could be doubts for Sunday’s game against Rangers in The Scottish Cup Semifinal. Both players were forced off in the excellent 7-0 win over St Johnstone owing to a hamstring complaint and what appeared to be a knock on Turnbull.

The Celtic manager touched upon injuries in an interview with Celtic TV, confirming that there was no firm update but suggesting that both the striker and attacking midfielder could miss the game at Hampden.

“Nothing concrete yet. Again, we’re still waiting on the final scans on it. Hopefully, it’s not too bad. He feels like it’s not too bad. But until we get the information we won’t know. Similar with David Turnbull, he obviously got a pretty hard knock.

“It’s only a couple of days after so we’ll see how it all settles down. With both, I’m hoping it’s not too lengthy an absence.”

Daizen Maeda took over the central role on Saturday before Celtic were boosted by the return of Kyogo. The manager has already stated that Kyogo will not start after his cameo at the weekend so you would naturally imagine that Maeda would lead the line allowing Liel Abda to come into the team with Jota moving across to the left side.

Should David Turnbull fail to return to fitness, Matt O’Riley, Tom Rogic and Reo Hatate would all compete for the two No.8s in Ange Postecoglou’s team to join Callum McGregor in the centre of the Celtic midfield. Unfortunately, we will need to hang fire and await news as to whether the pair will make the game.
