Another ‘Honest Mistake’ and a sensational Celtic third from Kit Loferski

The Unique Angle from Celtic FC Women’s impressive 3-0 Sky Sports Cup quarter-final win last night over the current SWPL1 Champions Glasgow City is well worth a look especially if you weren’t at the game at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium or watching on BBC Alba.

It’s a pity though that they didn’t include the other Celtic goal which was disallowed for , well nothing at all shortly after Player of the Match Natalie Ross put Celtic one up. With no VAR in the women’s game (thankfully) the referee’s ‘guess’ that their must have been a foul on the Glasgow City goalkeeper Lee Gibson meant that Celtic were denied – yet again – by an ‘Honest Mistake’.

No Celtic contact with Lee Gibson in the City goal but the whistle goes to disallow the goal.

The threat Celtic always pose Glasgow City at corners was ever present and the impressive Amy Gallacher was on hand to collect a second ball and pass into the City net to get a second Celtic goal at the second time of asking. This time the referee would think of nothing to make him blow his whistle.

Amy Gallacher makes it 2-0 to Celtic

That was grand but what followed was sensational from the half-fit American Kit Loferski, the pace, the touch the finish all absolutely incredible and surely a major contender for Celtic’s goal of the month.
