Another questionable penalty decision goes way of Celtic’s title challengers

Celtic’s gap at the top of the Cinch Premiership was cut to just two points after theRangers won 2-0 at Fir Park. Goals from Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell secured the three points in the Christmas Eve fixture. However, there was a Christmas present from the officials after a penalty was missed in the second half.

Dessers appeared to grab the Motherwell player as he was about to snatch at a rebound in the box. No penalty was awarded and the incident was discussed after the game by the Sky Sports team and the feeling was fairly unanimous – even former Rangers player Scott Arfield agreed.

Some of the officiating decisions in recent weeks that have benefitted teams have been questionable to say the least; however, it is incredible when you consider that it is over 70 league games since Rangers conceded a spot kick. Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell made his feelings known at full-time, too.

Celtic face theRangers next weekend in the second Glasgow Derby meeting of the season and it is shaping up to be quite an occasion. The Green Brigade/Bhoys are back and there will be no away fans, meaning that the Celtic support will need to get behind Brendan and his team, who appear to be in a difficult period at present.

Recently Brendan Rodgers called for VAR to be binned and he is spot in with this . It appears to be working exclusively for one club who have their own set or rules and are the only club not to have conceded a penalty kick since it was introduced.

  1. He is not spot on with this. If we bin it we are back to honest mistakes. We need to nail the cheating officials, var is not the problem.

  2. Agreed! The problem is cheating officials under orders from the cheating SFA.
    Scottish football is corrupt.

  3. Another two ” Stone-wall” , Penalties which should have been awarded to Motherwell against Rangers —It’s blatant , they are no longer trying to even make it subtle . The actions of Scottish so called Referees / VAR Officials and the SFA are now CRIMINAL .
They are doing everything possible to give Sevco a ” Leg-up” in every game they play . . The time for talking should be long gone . Litigation in the courts against this bias is the only answer .
