Arsenal star backs Celtic to sign Kevin Nisbet saying he’s a born goalscorer

Celtic Invincible and current Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has backed Celtic to sign Kevin Nisbet. The 25-year-old claims that the Hibernian attacker has the ability to score at any level given his natural talent for finding the net.

Speaking to The Sun, Tierney was full of praise for Nisbet’s abilities. The 25-year-old has emerged as an alternative to South Korean forward Cho Gue-sung and KT reckons he has what it takes to take the step up.

“Kev’s the kind of player who could go anywhere, not just Celtic, and score. He’s a born goalscorer. I was playing in the younger age groups with him, he was always the top goalscorer for us.

“One season, he had over 100 goals. “I know it’s different when you’re younger. But you still don’t score 100 goals if you are not a natural goalscorer.

“So he could easily score goals at any level, I’ve no doubt about that.”

The Scotland Internationalist is a Celtic supporter and would be keen on moving to Glasgow’s East End. Recent reports suggest that Celtic’s recruitment team are working to ascertain whether Nisbet can cope with the demands of Ange’s team before launching a bid, even if Hibs are reluctant to discuss any deal. Although there are a number of quality players in the Celtic squad who could be utilised as makeweights.

In 87 appearances for Hibs, Nisbet has 34 goals and 12 assists while at Raith Rovers, Nisbet had 34 goals in 46 appearances. Going even further back, Nisbet had 23 goals in 32 appearances for Dunfermline. It is a certainty that Nisbet is a real danger in front of goal and it is likely that he would be able to replicate this form with Celtic. Recent years have resulted in Tony Stokes and Scott McDonald acting as an example of strikers coming to Parkhead and showing their best form in front of goal.

Tierney certainly knows what works at Celtic and will be keen for both his boyhood club and his pal to link up this January window.

  1. We took a similar risk with scott McDonald from Motherwell and it worked a treat. His goalscoring figures speak for themselves but also add in the fact this Ange team creates between 25 and 35 goal scoring opportunities a game.

  2. Nisbet isn’t even number one for the Scottish national team, so he can’t be that good. A reckless gamble, seems to me. Well, if we can’t get anyone else…
