19 year old playmaker, Rodrigo Riquelme, has been linked with a move to Celtic according to reports from Marca.
The Spanish newspaper stated that both Celtic and ‘Rangers’ are ‘knocking on the door’ in terms of a transfer bid for the player, and today Corriere Dello Sport have claimed that the Hoops are preparing a ‘big economic offer’ for the services of the youngster.
Riquelme’s contract comes to an end in the summer and there is a lot of interest surrounding him thanks to his superb displays in the youth team. Despite such performances, he is a long way from entering the first team, given that Atletico just eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League and now have every chance of winning the competition.
Initial interest in Glasgow seems to have been sparked by Riquelme’s performance in the 4-0 victory over Graeme Murty’s ‘Rangers’ U19s side last month. It seems certain he will be on the move and Nick Hammond may well be in the ear of Neil Lennon and the Celtic board.
