Atletico Madrid v Celtic – Predicted Celtic Team and Formation

Brendan Rodgers could change the Celtic formation to match up with Atletico Madrid and present Diego Simeone with an unexpected headache at the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid this evening.

Joe Hart will of course be in goals and with all his Champions League experience will be a crucial performer for the Celtic manager this evening. We expect Celtic to start with a back three of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Nat Phillips and Liam Scales with Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor playing as wingbacks.

In the middle of the park the Celtic captain Callum McGregor will be joined by Paulo Bernardo and Matt O’Riley with a front two of Kyogo and Daizen Maeda.

Key players on the bench will be David Turnbull, Luis Palma, Tomoki Iwata and Oh.

Of course the Celtic manger may NOT spring that surprise and that would mean a we’d see Hart in goals with a back four of Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales and Taylor; the three in the middle being McGregor, O’Riley and Bernardo and the front three of Palma, Kyogo and Maeda.

It will be interesting to see if Bernardo is preferred to David Turnbull with the former more defensively minded but the latter a real goal threat on a night where Celtic will need to convert the limited opportunities likely to come our way.
