Celtic’s SLO has confirmed that there will be no away supporters permitted at the various Champions League qualifiers this year, meaning that any plans Celtic fans may have had to travel to Denmark for the second leg of Celtic’s opening tie against FC Midtjylland.
And if Celtic progress to the next few rounds of the Champions League or drop into one of the other UEFA competitions the same situation will apply for all these qualifying rounds.
“Supporter Info for UEFA Qualifiers: In view of the ongoing restrictions and in order to minimise COVID-19 related risk, UEFA decided to not allow visiting fans to attend UEFA matches and not to apply the 5% away fans rule for all 2021/22 qualifying phase and play-offs matches,” John Paul Taylor has advised this morning.
The more positive way of looking at this is that it looks like home fans will be allowed back into these games so some Celtic fans at least, maybe around 15k, could be at the game at Celtic Park on 20 July. It will be home supporters only too at the away leg which is confirmed for 28 July.

That in itself is a mouth watering prospect, added to this it will also be the first competitive match for Celtic under new manager Ange Postecoglou and there should be numerous new signing in the team, perhaps even including former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko who has a buy out clause in his current deal and is clearly interested in a return to Paradise where he has unfinished business.
