Barkas leaves Athens for Glasgow ahead of medical and official announcement on Wednesday

CELTIC will complete the signing of the AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas tomorrow assuming his medical tomorrow morning is without mishap – we all remember the David Turnbull situation last summer so it is still to early to count chickens.

The new from Athens is positive, the player has now left Athens and is Glasgow bound and he will undergo his medical tomorrow before being officially unveiled at the new first choice Celtic goalkeeper. Barkas could even make his debut against Hamilton on Sunday as the Premiership gets underway.

“According to our info Vasilis Barkas is on his way to Glasgow. In order to complete successfully his transfer to Celtic. He will undergo medical and official announcement on Wednesday,” Greek sports journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, the Editor-in-Chief at Sportime has confirmed.

Meanwhile Celtic have this afternoon confirmed that season ticket sales have broken all records and all tickets have now been sold, after any remaining tickets after the renewal date were offered to the 17k supporters on the waiting list – and these have now been snapped up, providing the club with incredible backing on the eve of a new season – the most important in the club’s history – which will begin without supporters inside Paradise due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
