Chris Sutton hit the headlines in midweek when he mocked ‘Rangers” celebrations after their comeback versus Braga, with the following sarcastic tweet:
Well done to Rangers on a superb comeback and winning the Europa League
— Chris Sutton (@chris_sutton73) February 20, 2020
Sutton later claimed that this was an error, and that he in-fact meant to congratulate them on winning IN the Europa League.
*in the Europa League… if you are feeling guilty I will accept apologies for the abuse I received last night after lavishing praise on Rangers… https://t.co/jkuRqyKGS6

Despite the controversy and alleged abuse, the former Celtic star didn’t hold back today, firing up another tasty tweet after St Johnstone held ‘Rangers’ to a 2-2 draw.
Battling point for Rangers…

It’s fair to say his comments have caused quite a reaction. As expected, many Celtic fans have joined in with the mockery – especially as Celtic took the lead and went on to win against Kilmarnock. On the flip side, ‘Rangers’ fans haven’t taken it too well. Some claimed Sutton ‘needs to grow up’, others labelled the tweet ’embarrassing’ and some turned to vitriol.
At the end of the day, if you’re declaring 55 in your club’s eighth season of existence, at new year – then such a tweet should be water off a duck’s back!
