Former Celtic talent Barry Hepburn has been released by Bayern Munich. The 20-year-old has had his contract terminated by Vincent Kompany’s side, leaving him as a free agent just days after the transfer window slammed shut.
As reported by Glasgow World, Hepburn has been released and is on the hunt for a new club as he continues to work to keep himself sharp before returning to professional football.
Hepburn played through the age groups at Celtic before switching to the Bundesliga giants in 2020, aged just 16. The move saw Hepburn compete in their respective age groups before advancing into their B Team. The attacker was given a shot at a loan move back to Scotland with Queen’s Park but this was cut short after he did not get adequate game time.
Hepburn came through the ranks at Celtic before following Liam Morrison on the path to Munich. It appears that the grass was not greener in Germany for Hepburn. The winger from Bannockburn comes from a Celtic family and couldn’t turn down the chance to make the move to the Allianz.
Meanwhile Celtic deadline day signing Luke McCowan spoke to The Celtic Star and other fan media sites at Celtic Park this afternoon. Here’s everything that was said…
He wouldn’t even count as an Academy player for us in European squad terms now despite coming through our youth ranks!
