It’s a Beautiful Sunday and we’re on the road again…It’s The Celtic Star Diary

JOHN McGINN’S wonder goal yesterday in Aston’s Villa 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday is surely going to be a contender for goal of the season…

No win bonus for the former Celtic target though.

How was your Saturday night? This young girl will have had better nights out judging by this chat and the expression on her face, LOL…

Well done to Livingston who managed to pick up a point at Tynecastle to end the home side’s 100% start to the season – Naismith even missed a penalty! Hearts of course remain top with 16 points, and the draw keeps Livingston in third spot on 11 points. Hibs, who won 3 -0 away at Dundee – Neil McCann remains…

…and that means that Celtic are down to fourth spot in the table just ahead of Aberdeen who are now on nine points.

The battle to make it into the top six at the end of the weekend is fought out at Ibrox today with St Johnstone the visitors – both clubs start the day on 8 points.

It’s weird looking at that table and seeing Hearts and Hibs at the top – wonder when was the last time that happened?

Celtic head to Rugby Park shortly and the sun is shining melting off the early morning frost on the grass – not that this will be a concern in east Ayrshire on that horrible artificial surface.

With Ntcham suspended we are likely to see Mulumbu make his debut – he scored the winner for Killie against Celtic in their 1-0 win back in February. He promises not to celebrate if he scores today, which is fair enough.

Killie will park the bus and look to benefit from one or two counters. Celtic will pass the ball in front of them for most of the game but are unlikely to create too many clear-cut chances – a 1-0 victory would be acceptable and is probably the most likely outcome.

Ideally Brendan will opt for two strikers by playing both Griffiths and Edouard and that could see a few goals going in. The pass pass pass stuff was beginning to get a little bit of a backlash from the support the other night – just like this morning’s frost, that was a first for the new season.

If you are going to the game remember the Killie fans have invited us to join with them in the 51st minute for a tribute to the late great Tommy Burns a legend at both Celtic and Kilmarnock.

Incidentally if you are usually unable to get a ticket for an away game and fancy going down to Kilmarnock on this Beautiful Sunday morning, there are plenty of spares on the go and there will be supporters holding tickets aloft outside of the ground. You can also try @celticspares on twitter to link up with a fellow supporter who can get you a ticket or two for today. Kick off at Rugby Park is at 12.30pm.

Comment on the pre-match Kilmarnock v Celtic thread over on the very lively Celtic Noise fans forum – it really is an enjoyable site that’s most welcoming to all Celtic supporters…
