Bernabei Alert: Celtic medical completed, contract until June 2027

It has been reported from Argentina today that Alexandro Bernabei has completed his Celtic medical and will have his contract details finalised within the next few hours – according to South American journalist Cesar Luis Merlo. The journalist who works for TyC Sports in Beunos Aires gave the update via Twitter a few hours ago, with anticipation now building for an unveiling of a new left-back.

The rumours have been aplenty of late with regards Celtic signings and the news that Bernabei had been photographed in Glasgow set tongues wagging last Friday. The Celtic Star reported on this at the time that we may have been on for a double reveal of both Bernabei and Jota. But, it wasn’t to be and our double bubble of Latino Heat was not to be then but good things come to this who wait..

We now are counting down the days, minutes and seconds until Alexandro is paraded in front of the cameras holding aloft a green and white hooped scarf and shirt. There is the line of thinking that suggests Michael Nicholson and Ange are being coy on this one to avoid any concurrent bans that may be passed over to the SFA due to the full-backs sending off for Lanus last week. You can also read all about that incident right here.

Whatever the case me be, it looks like the white smoke is almost due to appear above the Holy City – Celtic Park!

Here is the update Merlo gave in full, translated:

Alexander Bernabei has already had a medical check-up in Scotland.
* Celtic are preparing the contract for him to sign in the next few hours until June 2027.
* Lanus sold 90% of its record

The other thing which was confirmed was that Lanus have insisted on a 10% sell-on clause within the deal, should the player hit the heights at Celtic and earn a big-money move elsewhere in the future.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
