Best Moments On & Off The Pitch This Season

Lockdown is imposed for three weeks as it stands.

Football may be away from everyone’s mind at present, but when life is normal it is one of our greatest joys.

So here are our top three moments from on and off the field this season, one for each week of lockdown, to give you something to look forward to.

ON THE PITCH:

  1. Olivier Ntcham’s winner in Lazio – The high point this season was undoubtedly when Celtic took a big European scalp in Italy. Not only did Ntcham’s winner make history, but it was also extra-dramatic in the sense that it came in added time.
  2. Christopher Jullien’s winner in the League Cup final – Celtic were utterly dominated at Hampden. Only Fraser Forster’s heroics, including a penalty save, kept the Rangers at bay, as Celtic stole a tenth consecutive trophy.
  3. Scott Brown’s winner at home to Hamilton – At this stage everything was close at the top of the table. The Rangers were playing away at Aberdeen, where they dropped points as the Dons held them to a draw. However, disaster was only averted at Celtic Park that same night as Hamilton equalised in the last minute, but Scott Brown found just enough time to fire in a winner. Celtic 2-1 Hamilton.

OFF THE PITCH:

  1. Fans belting out Papa Francesco Ale in Rome – After securing a historic first win on Italian soil, Celtic fans were locked in the Stadio Olimpico. The Bhoys supporters group got the drums out and led all 9000 away fans in a spine tingling rendition of Papa Francesco Ale. What a spectacle!
  2. I Wanna Be Edouard takes off for the first time – Celtic fans’ new song for star striker, Odsonne Edouard, was born at the start of this season. When the Frenchman scored to put Celtic 2-1 ahead in the Champions League qualifier against Cluj, Paradise erupted and a new anthem was truly born.

  3. Tsunami in Copenhagen – Copenhagen’s half time anthem, Tsunami, got 3/4 of their stadium rocking. What they didn’t expect was for the entire Celtic end to go wild for it too. The fans jumping about to the song looked excellent, as the Celtic support enjoyed the moment being 1-0 ahead at the break.
