Best of luck to the well travelled Bolingoli for his time in Russia

As reported on The Celtic Star yesterday Boli Bolingoli has now completed his loan move from Celtic to Russian outfit FC UFA. Unfortunately it’s not a loan deal and there is no option to buy in this loan deal that nevertheless gets the Belgian out of the building at Lennoxtown and saves on his wages in the short term at least.

The £3m signing from Rapid Vienna will become a free agent in the summer and has essentially played his last game for Celtic, who are certain to resist any temptation to renew his deal!

Bolingoli seemed to have had a successful loan spell at Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir and even impressed playing against Manchester United in the Champions League. However an injury brought that relationship to a close without the Turks opting to bid for the player who returned to Celtic.

His crazy decision to head to Spain during a few days off at the start of last season had devastating consequences For Celtic and essentially ended Celtic’s faith in him as a player. Ange Postecoglou did give him a few games, most notably in the away defeat to Livingston earlier in the season and while Bolingoli had a decent game, it was not enough to change minds.

The Celtic support had previously given the player huge backing, with many on social media editing their handles to accommodate a mention for the left back. Best of luck to the well travelled Bolingoli for his time in Russia.

“Russian League side FC UFA have completed a loan move until the end of the season for Boli Bolingoli The left-back heads out on his second loan spell, having spent time with Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey last season,”  Lewis Laird reported.
