Big Tam’s Ibrox winner hurts them more than French Eddie’s on Beautiful Sunday…
Eight years ago yesterday, a ten man Celtic side beat the Rangers on their own turf courtesy of a tremendous Odsonne Edouard winning goal, and not only did it prove to be a significant strike in the outcome of the title race, it signalled the end of our occupancy of the entire Broomloan Road stand on Glasgow Derby Day.
It was the game that gave birth to the famous “whits the goalie dain Tom” on the often unintentionally hilarious Rangers TV. And despite that odious wee Tory Toff Douglas ‘Off! Off! Off!’ Ross who was running the line doing his best to scupper our chances of winning, Celtic prevailed, and in doing so broke the latest Ibrox club and its supporters, so much so that we seen our ticket allocation slashed by a massive 90 percent for future fixtures in Govan.
That ticket allocation has been slowly raised in the last year, and the opportunity to recreate the Free Broomloan was presented once again due to our participation in the Scottish Cup, an opportunity which we took full advantage of as we breathed some much needed noise and colour behind enemy lines in a bid to back the team.
It proved to have the desired effect as the huge travelling support roared on a depleted Celtic side to a spirited and dogged performance, which resulted in a successful tense penalty shootout victory that booked our place in the last four of the Scottish Cup.
The disgraceful scenes we witnessed in the aftermath from the home supporters however, could well put paid to our hopes of a return to that full allocation once again. Ironically last news news emerged via Celtics trusted media partners Daily Record that the Rangers allocation for the one remaining Glasgow Derby in the Scottish Premiership post split will NOT be affected by the disgraceful violent attacks on Celtic staff and supporters at Ibrox after Celtic win the Scottish Cup tie.
All the blame for these unruly scenes lie firmly at the door of the home supporters, who can’t stomach the sight of the Celtic supporters celebrating in their own backyard. So big Tam’s winning penalty, could prove to be more damaging than French Eddy’s sensational winner back in 2018, in regard to having the backing of our supporters in Govan for the foreseeable future.
There’s now talk that the Rangers fans ran onto the pitch to defend their players and their stadium, much like the lies that were told when they rioted at Hampden in the 2016 Scottish Cup final defeat to Hibs with the latest Ibrox club claiming that every single one of their players had been spat on and assaulted by Hibs supporters.
For the record, there were no Celtic supporters anywhere near the Rangers players after the match at the weekend. None. Here’s the proof.

Well,I disagree and agree with your main point,
Id rather be beaten by a quality goal than a penalty with is mostly luck but,
the match going to pens shows that both teams are nearly at the same crap level.
Also,why are you not mentioning sick graffitti,seat damage,counterfeit tickets etc?
