Bobby Madden given whistle then reviews his own Scottish Cup record handling Glasgow Derbies

Celtic lead theRangers 4-2 on aggregate over the two Scottish Cup matches refereed so far by Bobby Madden. And on Easter Sunday 17 April,

Madden will have the whistle for a third Glasgow Derby meeting in the Scottish Cup in the semi-final at a sold-out Hampden.

The referee took to Instagram earlier today to confirm his personally appointment and to review his own personal record of professional involvement in these Scottish Cup fixtures. Madden incidentally will have lan Mulvanny and Dougie Potter as his assistants (linesmen) at Hampden with our old pal Steven McLean has been named as the fourth official after failing to get a ticket in the latest Ibrox club’s ballot.

Willie Collum had the whistle at Ibrox on Sunday as Celtic came from behind to win the match 2-1 and in doing so opened up a six point lead at the top of the table with just six games remaining.

One of these will be at Celtic Park against theRangers and it is probably going to take place the week after the Scottish Cup meeting. With both Collum and Madden unlikely to be selected so soon to handle another Glasgow Derby it’s likely to be someone like Kevin Clancy we’ll see at the Celtic Park game.

Before all that though Celtic’s complete focus will be on the three points on offer on Saturday in the final game before the split, which gives Celtic the chance to go nine points clear ahead of theRangers returning from Portugal to face St Mirren in Paisley.

Celtic will have three home games and two away from home after the split and that position will be reversed for theRangers who have just two games at Ibrox and including the game on Sunday, four away matches to play.

On paper at least that appears to favour Celtic but Ange Postecoglou will be taking nothing for granted whatsoever.
