Borna Barisic? “He’s been watching too many gangster films,” raps WGS

Gordon Strachan has defended John Kennedy for his observation that tomorrow his side can win at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie and in doing so show that they are the best team in the country. Should the Celtic players show up then you would have to accept that Kennedy has a reasonably good chance of being proved right and of course the Ibrox club – founded in 2012 by Charles Green are going to think that they can build on their best ever season that has produced their first ever major trophy to go on and win a second one on 22 May at Hampden.

On the venue, one thing that is certain is that by tomorrow afternoon either theRangers or Celtic will be out of the Scottish Cup. Hampden is unavailable for supporters to attend on 22 May due to UEFA preparing for the Euros match so with the prospect of some fans being allowed into grounds by the day of the 2021 Scottish Cup Final surely the logical thing to do is to move the final to Ibrox or maybe even Celtic Park to allow fans in and maintain a neutral venue?

This season’s success has clearly gone to their heads over at Ibrox. There’s been more arrogance and triumphalism for one title – that’s one trophy – then anyone witnessed from Celtic winning nine titles in a row and twelve consecutive trophies on the bounce.

Which record is better? Which one would any support take for their club? Borna Barisic reckons that John Kennedy is being disrespectful and that his comments that Celtic can show that they are the best team in the country is a joke.

Strachan though, writing in his column behind a paywall in Glasgow Times, reckons that theRangers defender has been “watching too many gangster films” as he rubbishing theRangers man’s comments on Kennedy’s fairly reasonable remarks.

“It’s all been done, and I have to say, the reaction to his comments has been hysterical. I saw Borna Barisic say yesterday that it was disrespectful. I think he’s been watching too many gangster films. It’s only one man’s opinion, he’s not disrespecting anyone personally,” the former Celtic manager stated.

“What does he expect? John Kennedy to come out and say that he thinks (the)Rangers are fabulous, they really do have some wonderful players and that he thinks Barisic is by far the best player that he’s ever seen? It’s just not going to happen.”

Kennedy was also asked about Borna Barisic remarks at yesterday’s Mainstream Media Conference organised by our club, which once again excluded the Fans Media. That’s probably my fault as I mentioned ‘Honest Mistakes’ the last time we were allowed to speak to someone from Celtic – and the club showing edited it out! Remarkable really. Hopefully with Dominic McKay starting work on Monday these things will start to change.

The Celtic interim manager repeats exactly what he said, explains what he meant and accuses the mainstream media of manipulating his comments – who would have thought it?

John Kennedy is correct in his assessment. For me i’d say that recent seasons prove Celtic has the best players in the country. However, this season we have not performed and The Rangers International have been consistent. The rest of the league has been of a really poor standards and this highlights further just how below par Celtic has performed throughout. They say that one swallow does not make a sumeer, but it appears one title suggests to the Sevco fans that the empire is back! As i often say to them: 51/ 1, Mind The Gap, Sevco.
