Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Auston Trusty picked up a calf injury, resulting in his absence from the team this afternoon. Brendan has named Maik Nawrocki in the team due to the absence of the USA Internationalist and Liam Scales.
Rodgers confirmed to Celtic TV pre-match that Trusty had been too sore to play given the knock to his calf.
“Auston picked up a slight calf knock so he trained yesterday and likewise (to Callum McGregor) he was too sore.”
Nawrocki was praised by Rodgers for coming into the side for the 2-1 victory over Rangers in December 2023. The Polish central defender has played 0 Premiership minutes this season and has been linked with a move to the English Championship in January. It will be a big afternoon for the ex-Legia Warsaw star but he will be keen to make his mark felt after a spell on the sidelines.
Brendan will be hoping that his team will be able to lay down a marker against Rangers after the Ibrox side won in the last meeting back in January. Celtic were well beaten over in Govan and Brendan will be hoping his side can get three points in their pursuit of the title.
Rocki was the only defender tae get pass marks. Only him, Jota & Maeda actually looked their usual selves, the rest were awful!
Ppl should never again slag off Calmac & the job he does for us.
And never again over praise the likes of Kühn & Engels.
No idea what happened today as never seen AJ, CCV, Schlupp & Kasper play so bad.
All hopefully ashamed of themselves.
Too confident that’s it believe the crap rangers would be tired
