Brendan Rodgers has provided a promising update on the fitness of Greg Taylor. The full-back has missed the last two games with a groin injury and will miss tomorrow’s game against Hibernian; however, the manager has revealed that he will be in contention for Sunday’s game against St Mirren.
Speaking at this afternoon’s media conference, the manager gave an update on the fitness of his squad, giving the update on the Scotland Internationalist.
“We’ll see how (Greg) is for the weekend, he’s out on the pitch and moving really well, working well. It’ll just be getting the sign-off from the medical team. We’ll see, if it’s not the weekend he’ll be ready for the next game.”
Taylor’s return will be welcomed with the drop off in quality being apparent since he was ruled out. Alexandro Bernabei has started the last two games but has been booked as performances have not been up to standard. The manager made his feelings regarding the need for an addition in this area but this did not transpire in the final days of the transfer window.
Owen Beck was a target before Jurgen Klopp handed him a seven minute cameo in a win against Bournemouth, which scuppered his chances of a move meaning that a return to Dundee was the only move that would ensure him game time.
Celtic travel to Paisley to face Stephen Robinson’s side as they look to defend the Scottish Cup, which they secured last June with a 3-1 win over Inverness CT.
