Brian Rice Unhappy With Celtic Penalty Award

Hamilton Accies Manager, Brian Rice, was asked about his team’s performance today and said that he was pleased with how they played considering they had so many players unavailable. Whilst acknowledging that Celtic played well, Rice felt that the game changed with Odsonne Edouard’s penalty in the second half.

The Hamilton boss told Sky One: “It’s the season of giving and they’ve been given a nice gift with that penalty there.” The reporter probed further asking for his opinion as to whether the penalty decision was correct or not. Rice refused to be drawn on the subject saying “I don’t want to get myself in trouble for my comments so I don’t want to say anything. I think that says it all, that tells you all you need to know.”

Footage of the foul on Edouard can be seen by clicking the link to this Celtic Star article, which was uploaded at the time: https://thecelticstar.com/video-1-0-edouard-gives-celtic-the-lead-from-the-spot/

Rice may wish to reconsider his position after watching that back. It certainly appears that the Frenchman’s standing foot was swept away from him after he released his strike.
