Brilliant, it’s Bye, Bye Boyata

STV have reported this evening that neither Jack Hendry not Dedryck Boyata travelled to Lithuania today.

Hendry hurt his ankle taking nine or ten touches too many midway through the second half at Firhill. Stepping out of the spotlight for a few weeks could do no harm for the player who is clearly a ‘development’ project for Brendan to work his magic on. What he is not is the finished article.

Hendry of course had to step up and play in the the vital Champions League games because of the absence of World Cup star Dedryck Boyata. To think we were all 100% behind him during his game time in Russia.

Boyata’s strike last week was simply unforgivable and there was surely no way that Brendan ever thought that he’d ever be able to play him again in front of the unforgiving Celtic support. It would be messy.

Boyata should have been sold to Fulham. We all get that now. But at the weekend Brendan was trying to pick up the pieces and allow the player to get his move and Celtic to get our money. Boyata’s actions will have cost Celtic many millions and everything that has happened since getting back from Athens has been damage limitation.

Talking of money: a penny for Boyata’s thoughts watching those two AEK Athens goals last week. He must have known he’d let us down. If we got away with it by winning in Athens the reaction to his disgraceful antics would have been less severe, so he must have had enough self awareness to know what was coming.

If Brendan Rodgers, Peter Lawwell or that horrible agent of his have managed to get him his move then that’s brilliant news.

Boyata trained today but never made the plane. You assume he hasn’t recommenced with his strike action so there must be a move afoot.

The quicker he is gone the better. Bye Bye Boyata.
