A bunch of Bs! John McGinn and the three options open to Hibs

“Blackburn Rovers could be set to challenge Celtic for John McGinn as they mull over a deadline-beating move for Hibs’ prize asset,” hopes the Daily Record.

Their headline says “John McGinn race heats up as Blackburn get set to battle Celtic for Hibs midfielder’s signature”

They call a one horse race a walk over don’t they? And what happened to the Brighton bid?

Blackburn? Didn’t they say that Dylan McGeouch would be signing for them at the end of last season? How did that turn out?

Apparently “The Hibs man (McGinn) is in-demand and Tony Mowbray is poised to raid his old club for their prize asset.”

Maybe. Maybe not.

However Mowbray would enquire first and would quickly learn that the player has his heart set on a move to Celtic.

That means he doesn’t want to sign for Blackburn or Brighton on Bournmouth, or Burnley if Bolton or any other side in England starting with a B.

The reality is that the only B that matters to McGinn is Brendan.

Hibs have received 3 bids for McGinn – all from Celtic.

The English transfer window closes in 4 days time.

Yesterday Brendan Rodgers opened up on the imminent arrival of Australian teenager Daniel Arzani and the likely return of Paddy Roberts but he REFUSED to say another word on John McGinn.

So in summary and to repeat the position, McGinn will sign for Celtic and it is only a matter of speculating on when that will happen.

There are three options –

1. August 2018 (Hibs get a few million, maybe a player or two)

2. January 2019 – Hibs get a few hundred grand, no players

3. May 2019 – Hibs get zero cash and have competed their season with no Celtic loan deals in their side. (the league table would look grimmer than it could have – see option 1).
