Bundesliga giants linked with move for Celtic target Shon Weissman

BORUSSIA DORTMUND have emerged as potential rivals to Celtic for the signature of Israeli hitman Shon Weissman. The Bundesliga giants are reportedly considering a move for the striker after a stunning season with Austrian side Werberger. Celtic have been cited as an interested party for the last few months but no concrete interest has transpired.

According to German website Wa.de, Dortmund are keen to get competition for Erling Haaland.

The report claims that Dortmund could swoop to give Haaland a potential strike partner ahead of the new season after coming narrowly close to winning the Bundesliga, only to be tipped by Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old has one year remaining on his deal and with an incredible tally of 37 goals in 40 appearances, Weissman won’t be short on offers.

Celtic confirmed that they had not made an offer for the Israeli earlier in the week but with a record like Weissman, it would be foolhardy for the club not to keep an eye on his future.

The news that Weissman was a target came as it emerged that Leigh Griffiths was omitted from the squad that travelled to France as Celtic’s pre-season preparations ramp up with matches against PSG, Lyon and Nice. Griffiths will need to be wary as Neil Lennon looks to maintain the strength across the squad, the decision for him to remain at Lennoxtown proves that there can be no passengers as the club go for an unprecedented 10IAR. That message applies to fellow strikers Patryk Klimala and Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who are yet to really impose themselves at Celtic Park.
