Callum McGregor fully deserving of his player of the Month accolade

Callum McGregor fully deserving of his first ever Player of the Month accolade…it’s long overdue, is it not?

Callum McGregor was yesterday named Scottish Premiership player of the month for August and deservedly so. The Celtic captain has been absolutely terrific since the start of the season and has already beat his goal tally of last term with three superbly taken goals.

It’s not just his goals, but his all round game that’s seen to have went up a notch. He really is a true leader and Brendan has got so much more out of him, similar to the way he rejuvenated Scott Browns career at the same age when he was appointed Celtic manager first time around.

Callum has also benefited from being free of the added burden that is international football since his decision to retire just shortly after Euro2024.

That has proved to be a wise decision by Callum and it’s a decision that will benefit both the player and club. If Callum keeps putting in those sort of displays it won’t be his last personal accolade this season. He could well end up as the player of the year, such is his good form.

The respect and influence Calmac has across the Celtic squad is quite incredible and seems to be increasing with each season. Callum could have four or five years left leading the Hoops, Enjoy him while we can folks, he’s rather special.

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
