Cameron Carter-Vickers to miss Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash

Cameron Carter-Vickers will miss Celtic’s Scottish Cup Fourth Round clash against Buckie Thistle as he continues his recovery from injury. The holders, who beat Inverness CT in the final last June, will be looking to swat aside the visitors from Moray.

The USA Internationalist injured his hamstring in the Boxing Day win at Dens Park resulting in absences against theRangers and St Mirren; however, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he is back to fitness but will miss Sunday’s game.

Celtic host the Highland league side in what should be a straight forward afternoon against the Highlanders before resuming league action against Ross County next Saturday. The Celts will welcome back Carter-Vickers, who has almost recovered from his injury.

English Premier League sides Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Brentford have been linked with the player but they will need to pay in excess of £20m for the defender.

CCV has been immense since joining from Tottenham Hotspur, initially on a loan deal, striking up a successful partnership with Carl Starfelt across Ange’s two seasons at the club. However, this season has been more challenging with injuries disrupting the big defender at different junctures in the campaign. Hopefully, now he is back totally fitness then he’ll be ready to resume his role at the heart of the defence in the second half of the season.
