A 1-1 draw in Dublin against Wolves proved to be another decent run out and performance as we gear up for the season opener next Saturday.
Starting with a make shift back four consisting of Tomoki Iwata, Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales, Greg Taylor being the only mainstay defender, we nevertheless put in a good shift, with a performance to match.
Despite looking a bit shaky and understandably so, the back line done okay against a decent EPL side full of international stars. It would have done them the world of good confidence wise and despite failing to register a clean sheet, albeit due to a dodgy penalty, they can be content with their display.
They won’t be regular starters next term, they might not even be here, but it was good they showed great commitment all the same.
Going forward we looked excellent and our passing and composure was spot on. The players are certainly getting used to Brendan’s style. It bodes well for the new campaign.
The midfield of Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor looks as elegant as ever and up top Liel Abada continues his impressive pre season form and Kyogo, well he did what he does best and scored with a clinical finish and was unlucky not to have had a second which would have been deserving for what would have been a goal of the season contender.
The two new South Korean boys didn’t have much time to impress, but got stuck in all the same. Kwon looks like he has a bit of dig about him and not someone to be messed with, something that we badly lack. So hopefully he’s the man to sort out that problem.
The Celtic support was there, they are always there and once again they were absolutely magnificent.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
