Celtic 5 Nomme Kalju 0 – ‘This was a brilliant performance with some cracking goals,’ David Potter

WHATEVER we say about this game has to be qualified by the reality that the opposition was poor and would probably struggle in the Scottish Championship, let alone the SPL, but we all know that Celtic have struggled against such teams in the past.

Not tonight however. This was a brilliant performance with some cracking goals. Ryan Christie was once again superb and his goal was a real collector’s item. Leigh Griffiths is now back with a vengeance, his goal so reminiscent of the two he scored for Scotland against England at Hampden, not to mention the many he has scored for Celtic in the past.

But there was more than that to enthuse about. Mikey Johnston, Lewis Morgan, Callum McGregor were all excellent, clearly relishing the occasion and enjoying playing for Celtic, and even Olivier Ntcham caught the mood. There might yet be a future for you yet, Olivier!

Once or twice the defence might have conceded a goal but they didn’t and a clean sheet is always good for confidence

The Danish referee had a good game, refereeing sensibly and not brandishing red cards when he might have, once when the Estonian defender handled deliberately and the other when Ryan Christie tackled rashly. A yellow card was probably the right decision, but it was a blot on an otherwise perfect night for Ryan

A good holiday crowd with loads of young children all proudly wearing the hoops, unlike the Green Brigade who entertained us bare-chested! Not always beautiful, but still melodic!

Football good, result good, weather good! Ireland well on top of England in the cricket at Lord’s! (No kidding!)

What’s wrong with the world? Yes,yes I know…Boris Johnston!
