Celtic 6 St Mirren 0 – Last time at Paradise against tonight’s visitors

Celtic face St Mirren this evening as Ange Postecoglou’s side looks to build their lead at the top of the Cinch Premiership. The visitors from Paisley will be hoping to cause an upset. However, Celtic will be looking to bounce back from the defeat in Norway as well as the draw against Hibs.

Back in August, St Mirren were blown away by Celtic at the beginning of the season. The visitors from Paisley left with a bruising 6-0 defeat. Here are the highlights from that game.

Liel Abada gave Celtic the lead with a left-footed strike that deceived Jak Alnwick in the Saints net. The Israeli winger took the ball into the box from the right-hand side before sending his effort goal-ward.

Minutes later, Liel Abada scored the second of the game as the winger found himself on the end of a good cross from Greg Taylor. The clinical forward headed the ball into the ground leaving the goalie with no chance.

David Turnbull made it 3-0 with an excellent strike from distance. Turnbull made it 4-0 to Celtic after an error from the St Mirren goalkeeper. The Scottish midfielder got a second of the afternoon after Alnwick fumbled a cross, allowing Celtic’s No.14 to stick the ball into the net. The first half finished 4-0 to the Celts.

Odsonne Edouard had Celtic’s fifth with a finish from close range. It was Turnbull that got a hat-trick and completed the rout as Albian Ajeti forced a mistake from the Saints defender before playing Tom Rogic in. The Australian clipped the ball into Turnbull’s path, who dinked it over Alnwick. It was 6-0 but it really could have been more.

Ange will be hoping for another performance like this from his team.
