Celtic: A Family at War – “They were shocking. They were disgusting,” Andy Walker

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker pulled no punches this morning on Sky Sports as he attacked a new generation of Celtic fans who re points out have known nothing but uninterrupted success with nine league flags won on a row and eleven consecutive trophies won.

We have already quoted John Hartson’s comments and Chris Sutton also condemned the scenes outside Celtic Park last night. Walker is less popular that the other two strikers and will be condemned as a soup taker and so on.

However consider this, this report is on Sky Sports and there is no group of supporters at any club on the UK that can match the run of success that Celtic has delivered over the previous decade of domination.

Few Celtic Supporters will be happy with the way this season is going. From Fraser Forster going back on his word to return, Charlie Christie remarkably telling us that his boy should have been the player of the year last season as he signalled the transfer request that had already been made, Bolingoli selfish behaviour, Leigh Griffiths turning up unfit for purpose (his time is surely up) and at least two Frenchmen and a Norwegian who’d rather be somewhere else.

Celtic in truth have never got going and it’s hard to see how we can kick-start our season. Yesterday’s defeat coupled with Aberdeen losing at St Mirren in their cup-tie opens a window of opportunity for the postponed league game to be played this side of Christmas. It means that IF we can get the league campaign back on track we can go to Ibrox a little closer to them.

Europe is gone and so is the Betfred Cup. We have the Scottish Cup final on 20 December against Championship side Hearts to hopefully help lift the gloom but the main ficus has to be on the league.

Managing the players to get performances back and points won. If we close the gap before Ibrox you just never know in football.
