Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg posted a transfer exclusive this evening relating to Celtic’s year-long pursuit of a striker – and there’s now some hope of white smoke but with all things transfer related with Celtic it would be unwise to start counting any chickens…
🚨💥 EXCL | Tomas Cvancara to Celtic – DONE DEAL ✔️

Florian Plettenberg reports:
‘Celtic are in advanced negotiations with Borussia Mönchengladbach over a deal for Tomas Cvancara. The 25 year-old striker has already agreed personal terms with Celtic. Now it’s down to the final details between the clubs. The deal is set to be a loan with an option to buy.’

The 25-year-old, 6ft 3in Borussia Mönchengladbach striker impressed with 24 goals at Sparta Prague before a €10.5m move, but has struggled lately with eight goals in 54 Bundesliga games and two in 11 Turkish loan outings.

Versatile as a centre-forward or on the right, his physicality could fit Scottish football perfectly ahead of Sunday’s Hearts clash. Manager Martin O’Neill has pushed for striker reinforcements, and reports from Sky Sports Germany confirm advanced loan-with-option-to-buy talks. The Czechia international, with eights caps and one goal, has recently been linked with theRangers.

Tomas Cvancara could be in line to make a dramatic debut appearance for Celtic at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon in a match that the Champions will be looking to win.

I’m already buzzing about his incredible goal return. Awesome, just what we need.
So if this deal goes through, it’s a combination of both risk v hope.
A bit of a risk as we’re taking a punt on a guy who, much like some of our other targets of late, hasn’t been hitting the net recently.
But also hope as he was scoring goals with ease back in Prague. Hopefully he can reclaim that confidence in the SPL.
Also nice of us to use some common sense and get a purchase agreement in place as well.
A gamble, but one with up-sides. Fingers crossed. Get it over the line and get the guy on the pitch and in the goals…
Another waste 6 goals from 49 games. 1 good season and a slew of less than 3rd choise striker goal returns. Another Idah.
This board is taking us to the lowest points this club has ever seen.
Turns out rock bottom has a basement.
He’ll be decent for us. Strikers can have barren patches at new clubs in different formations and level of service etc. MON sanctioned this. Lighten up and give the guy a fucking chance! Who were you expecting to come to Scotland in Jan. Haaland?
Guys come on give the lad a chance , He is only 25 and was a £10 million buy to germany .Sometimes players are not a good fit for clubs like Managers . Lets give the lad a break and see how he fits into the team, with the amount of chances we create he just might surprise us KENNY misses many chances lets see if this boy can convert them.
Agreed!
As long as been scouted by Maloney etc & not fuckin Tisdale, the lad is hopefully better than we’ve got.
But, as we all know, it’s the hope that kills us!
