Celtic announce two SWPL games in Paradise – Let’s bring back the Green Wall

This afternoon, Celtic confirmed that two of our post-split SWPL matches will take place at Celtic Park. Elena Sadiku and Ghirls will play to Paradise against Hearts on Sunday 21 April before Hibs make the trip to Celtic Park on Sunday 19 May.

Last season, the Ghirls had the chance to play in our home ground for the first time, setting the Scottish domestic attendance record TWICE as Celtic supporters showed their love for the women’s team. A victory in front of a record crowd on the final day of last season wasn’t enough to clinch the title, but good memories prevail.

The Green Brigade showcased their Green Wall idea and it was magnificent and hopefully they’ll be bringing that along to Celtic Park to give Elena Sadiku her first taste of a massive Celtic support getting right behind her team with all the benefits that brings. The games last season at Paradise against Glasgow City and Hearts were very special occasions and we can expect more of the same this season.

Another reason to be excited is that any supporter who bought a ticket to watch Celtic Women vs theRangers at Ibrox last month will be given free entry to the first fixture against Hearts.

In an announcement, Celtic said: “Clearly, we were disappointed that Celtic supporters were denied access to that match and while we ensured that these fans were refunded for this game, we also wanted to further recognise the fantastic commitment and support of these fans, by welcoming them along to Celtic Park to cheer on the Ghirls free of any charge.”

All Celtic FC Women Season Ticket holders, including Half Season Tickets, will have these two matches included in their ticket.

What fantastic news to end the week on, especially with such big games coming up this weekend for both Elena and Brendan and their respective teams.

I’m sure we’ll see a fantastic Celtic crowd make their way to Paradise to cheer on the Ghirls, so make sure you don’t miss out. Elena Sadiku’s side remain four points behind theRangers but have the chance to reduce the gap to one point this St Patrick’s Day in the Glasgow Derby this Sunday.

The game kicks off at 4.10pm at the Excelsior Stadium this Sunday, with tickets available to buy HERE.
