Celtic attacker named as SPFL’s Star Man after display in title clincher

Celtic winger Nicolas Kühn has been named as the SPFL’s Star Man in their latest instalment of the Team of the Week. The winger netted twice as Brendan Rodgers’ side secured the Premiership title with a resounding 5-0 win over Dundee United. Celtic were excellent as they dispatched Jim Goodwin’s side to ensure that they are Scottish Champions again before this weekend’s Glasgow Derby against Rangers.

Kühn was named as one of the candidates for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year accolade along with teammates Daizen Maeda and skipper Callum McGregor. Dundee’s Simon Murray makes up the quartet.

Kühn has enjoyed a fantastic season and he was the early favourite for Player of the Year before being eclipsed in the second half of the campaign by the goals of Daizen. The German Internationalist has scored 20 goals and assisted 14 times in 47 appearances in all competitions. There will likely be suitors for Kühn in the summer given his fine form, especially in the UEFA Champions League games. However, Celtic may hope that the carrot of more UCL football can encourage him to stay at the club into next season.
