Celtic Can’t Afford Any More Slip Ups In Race For The Title

Celtic’s season is far from over. Even after what has been a disappointing campaign for the Hoops, they’re still in the title race…

This season has been all about Hearts so far, and they hold a fair lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but Celtic will be trying to chip away at that in the coming weeks, in the hope of overtaking them before the curtain comes down on the 2025/26 campaign.

A Season Littered With Setbacks

Celtic’s season has been littered with setbacks. There have been good runs and then draws, good runs and then defeats, with these setbacks knocking the club off course in its efforts to defend the SPL title. This is something that must stop happening between now and the end of the season if Celtic are to stand any chance of catching Hearts.

Even recently, a home defeat against Hibs was followed up by a draw away to theRangers, with five points dropped across the two fixtures. Those five points would have made a huge difference in the title race. With all that said and done, there’s still a belief Celtic are still in this, and that’s reflected by the latest football betting online, but the slip-ups must stop.

Still Up For The Fight

One thing is for sure, by looking at the Glasgow Derby fightback, it’s clear the players and manager Martin O’Neill still believe, and will keep going until the end. 2-0 down at halftime at Ibrox, things weren’t looking good. But to come back into the game the way they did, securing the draw in injury time when Reo Hatate finally got the ball over the line, it shows there’s fighting spirit.

Of course, Celtic would ideally not have been in the situation they found themselves in after 26 minutes, but to rally in such a big game, at Ibrox, against a Rangers team that also believes they’re still in the title race, says a lot about the belief in the group, and it will have created momentum.

The O’Neill Factor

Martin O’Neill has been there and done it when it comes to winning things at Celtic. He knows what it takes to win titles, and this gives Celtic hope of snatching glory away from Hearts.

Even at 74 years old, O’Neill has the passion for it, as seen against theRangers. He’s also a wily operator, who made the right changes at the right time in the Glasgow Derby game against a much less experienced manager in Danny Rohl, with these substitutions proving to be theRangers’ unravelling and Celtic’s route back into the game. O’Neill’s experience, especially in big moments, could be crucial.

Conclusion

From here on in, what Celtic have to do if they want to stand a chance of defending their Premiership crown is win and keep winning. Good performances are now irrelevant; it’s all about the points. If Celtic have to play ugly to win games, then so be it.

Hearts are in a great position, but they will drop points between now and the end of the season, and Celtic must be ready to capitalise when the chance to do so arises. If they don’t do that, they’ll only have themselves to blame.

  1. A comeback result, means nothing if we don’t achieve 3 points tonight?

A decent consistency factor hasn’t been achieved all season, in performance levels, along with team selection imo?

We did manage a consistency factor with results, with MoN, until we decided to shoot ourselves in the foot with the Nancy appointment.

Regardless, we are still in a position to look forwards moreso than backwards at present.
11 cup finals at present on offer, which hopefully expands to 13 is still on offer, to salvage another double winning season?

Think that our spirit is still alive within our squad, especially with 8 of our 16 players used at that toxic shithole, experiencing the levels of bigotry and cheating that we have to endure. Yet they managed to overcome the likes, to gain a result all the same.

Our mindset will be tested again tonight, but still believe that we have enough within our squad, to still overcome the amount of obstacles that we are going to face still, before the end of this season imo?
