According to the Daily Mail, Fraser Forster’s future at Southampton will be clarified within the next 48 hours. The Englishman has made just one appearance for the South coast club in two years and with Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn battling out for the number 1 spot, it seems likely that Forster will be permitted to leave.
The goalkeeper, who enjoyed a phenomenal season at Celtic, has made no secret of the fact that he would like to make his move to Parkhead permananent. A permanent deal is reportedly unlikely for the 32 year old, however his high wages and lack of requirement at Southampton has opened the door for another loan deal.
Such a move would shift a big chunk off the wage bill for the Saints, whilst Celtic get their man without paying a transfer fee. It’s a win-win situation that looks likely to go ahead.
On the flip side, the same newspaper reported that Mohammed Elyounoussi could be part of the Premier League club’s plans. Elyounoussi showed glimpses of his talent during an injury ravaged campaign in Scotland, but a move for the 16 million pound winger doesn’t appear possible this summer.
