Celtic closing in on deal for £3.5m winger, according to report

Celtic are reportedly nearing a £3.5m deal for Liel Abada. The 19-year-old scored 13 goals last season for Maccabi Petah Tikva despite interest from Club Brugge, Dynamo Kyiv and OGC Nice. According to Israeli outlet ONE, the deal has been agreed and the player is set to travel to Glasgow.

The article says that the player has agreed a four-year deal with Celtic and he is a client of Dudu Dahan, a regular client of Celtic’s recruitment team.

The player assisted four times last year as well as his impressive goal tally and he will bolster Celtic’s wide options with Moi Elyounoussi’s loan ending. Ange Postecoglou has James Forrest, Karamoko Dembele and Mikey Johnston as options but it has been clear for a while that there needs to significant investment into the attacking options ahead of the new year.

Celtic are still progressing with deals for Carl Starfelt and Brandon Soppy in terms of defensive options but there have not been as many links on the attacking side. Hopefully, the deal can be done and Abada can join up with the team ahead of the game against FC Midtjylland next Tuesday.
