Celtic coaching target agrees deal to become Dunfermline boss

Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant looks set to be appointed as the new head coach of Dunfermline Athletic. The 55-year-old made 483 appearances for Celtic across a fifteen-year period but it looks as if there will be no emotional return to Paradise. Grant, who recently left his role as Alloa Athletic manager, had been linked as part of the staff that may join should Eddie Howe. However, The Courier is reporting that Grant has agreed to replace Stevie Crawford at East End Park.

Grant interviewed during the week at Dunfermline and the report states that he will be announced tomorrow morning with the Pars eyeing promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. Grant impressed at an interview and talks appear to have progressed well with the Championship outfit offering the job in the dugout to the former West Brom, West Ham and Celtic coach.

Supporters seemed a bit reluctant for Grant to return to Celtic due to his association with Tony Mowbray’s ill-fated spell in charge. Although, now Howe will need to find someone else to replace Grant – with potentially either Gavin Strachan and John Kennedy in the frame to remain under Howe.
