Ross Hardie has been appointed referee for Celtic’s Boxing Day clash with Motherwell at Paradise. Celtic has announced that this game will be available to supporters in Britain and Ireland not attending the match, via pay-per-view, costing £12.99…
The rookie whistler took charge of his first ever match at Celtic Park in late October when the Scottish Champions faced Dundee in a Scottish Premiership encounter.
Courtesy of Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels, the Hoops secured three points versus Tony Docherty’s side in what was a routine victory.
Now, Hardie is the man in the middle for the second time this season at Celtic Park in two days time.
Hardie has been out of action onfield since 7 December when Aberdeen faced St Johnstone at Pittodrie. Since then, he has been Fourth Official in a UEFA Conference League tie between Mlada Boleslav and Jagiellonia Bialystok, and also took the position between both managers at Easter Road 10 days ago at Hibs against Ross County.
Celtic’s opponents on Thursday afternoon have been on the receiving end of incompetent officiating in recent weeks.
Controversy struck at Fir Park last Friday after Dan Casey was wrongly sent off despite referee Chris Graham going to the VAR monitor and bizarrely sticking with his original decision.
Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell insisted yesterday in his media conference that it was the worst decision he has ever seen in his career as both a player and manager. He obviously didn’t watch the Premier Sports Cup final from the previous weekend – every lurking supporter of theRangers is currently thinking.

Alongside Ross Hardie on Thursday is Jonathan Bell [AR1] and Gordon Crawford [AR2]. At Clydesdale House manning VAR duties is Euan Anderson with Graeme Stewart taking the role as AVAR.
